Draymond Green describes which artist he can compare his game to: "You know why it's Pac for me?"
In a recent interview, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green was asked which artist he thought best described his playing style. Speaking with rapper and songwriter Mistah F.A.B, Dray compared his game to legendary rapper Tupac's.
Draymond Green has been an key member of the Golden State Warriors roster since early in their championship years. As one of the smartest players on the floor, Green is a contributor on both ends of the ball.
With the offense running through him as the primary playmaker, the Warriors have one of the most fundamentally sound offensive structures in the league. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, the former DPOY has certainly made his presence known as an anchor.
Purely putting basketball aside, Green is a tremendous communicator and leader. While additionally factoring in his loyalty and aggression, the forward makes for an incredibly valuable asset for the Warriors.
In this regard, a recent interview also shed light on how Green believes his style of basketball is best represented. Joining "The Unc & Fab Show", Green was asked asked about which artists best described his playing style. Green responded:
"Tupac. You know why it's Pac for me? I'm very thoughtful on the basketball court. But I'm with that s**t! Like, Pac's very thoughtful. But all it takes is this *snaps* to like- And we can go there. And I feel like, what Pac pictured, I try to embody. I feel like it's me to the T. I just feel like that's my whole character."
American rapper Tupac was undoubtedly the voice of a generation. With heavy-hitting lyrics and pioneering work in the rap game, Tupac Shakur certainly presented himself as an impactful individual.
The comparison between Green and Tupac is quite valid. A contemplative approach paired with a propensity to clap back at the drop of a hat seems to sum up Green's personality.
As the Warriors continue to play without Curry, the forward becomes all the more essential in steering the team in the right direction.
Draymond Green listed as questionable against Portland
The Golden State Warriors have been quite unfortunate with regards to injury this season. With superstar Steph Curry missing a significant amount of time due to injuries, the Warriors have also seen a vital cog in Draymond Green out of action recently.
Green most recently sustained a knee injury during the first game back from the All-Star break against the LA Lakers, which the Warriors lost. Since that loss, the Dubs have done a fairly solid job of staying afloat. Beating the Houston Rockets and the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Warriors have hung tough without two key players.
The upcoming game against Portland Trail Blazers appears to be a daunting one. However, Draymond Green could return, as he has been upgraded to questionable for the game.
MRI results on Green's knee came back clean, and the forward was also seen practicing with the team on Monday. The 31-30 Warriors need every asset possible to break past the .500 mark.
