Dwyane Wade and Heat's 3x NBA championship winner make opinion clear on 'fighting' Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett
Dwyane Wade and his former teammates Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller recently talked about almost getting into fights with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce back in their playing days. When LeBron James and Chris Bosh teamed up with Wade in Miami, the Heat often found themselves battling the Boston Celtics, who were also the top contenders in the Eastern Conference at the time.
Fast forward to the present, Wade, Haslem and Miller reminisced about the times they faced the Celtics. The "Flash" pointed out how Garnett and Pierce would often talk trash and get into their faces. Most of the time, despite the moment being heated among them, it never really led to a real scuffle. Wade then hilariously said on Haslem and Miller's podcast that he wants to fight the Boston duo.
"We'd have been in those battles with Boston, with KG and Paul Pierce in them," Wade hilariously brought up. "Then is this and his chest bumping. People think you're going to fight. I want to fight! I wanna almost fight. I ain't did that in a long time."
Udonis Haslem then had a humorous response to Dwyane Wade's joke:
"I just wanna fight for real! That's the problem, I still want to fight."
Looking back at Dwyane Wade and LeBron James' rivalry against the Boston Celtics
Back in 2010, LeBron James decided to take his talents to South Beach to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the Miami Heat. At the time, the Boston Celtics were the top team in the Eastern Conference after winning the championship in 2008 and making another NBA Finals appearance in 2010 when they faced Kobe Bryant's LA Lakers.
Given the circumstances, Miami getting into a heated rivalry with Boston was inevitable. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett were two of the toughest players in the league at the time, and the idea of the trio of James, Wade, and Bosh taking over did not sit well with them.
In the 2011 NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics faced off in the second round. As expected, "The Heatles" proved to be too much for Boston's players as they easily beat them 4-1 in the series.
In the 2012 NBA Playoffs, the Celtics seemed prepared for what the Heat had to offer as they pushed Dwyane Wade and LeBron James to a seven-game series. The 2012 Eastern Conference Finals was one of the most intense matchups in history, with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett often getting on the nerves of James and Wade.
Ultimately, the Heat reigned triumphant and proceeded to win their first NBA title under the LeBron James era.
