Dwyane Wade's daughter Zaya Wade turns heads in Ronny Kobo leopard print coat at Out100 celebration
Dwyane Wade's daughter Zaya Wade decided to don a Ronny Kobo leopard print coat at the Out100 celebration's red carpet. The Out100 celebration is meant to honor the most influential and impactful LGBTQ+ individuals in a year.
Zaya Wade walked the red carpet to attend the event as one of the candidates to be honored. 'Check the Tag,' a fashion page on Instagram, uploaded the red-carpet picture of D-Wade's daughter with the details of her fit and the occasion.
At the age of 12, Zaya, formerly known as Zion, came out as a transgender to her family, four years ago, in February 2020. Since then, the daughter of the three-time NBA champion has become an icon for youngsters all around the world who are still afraid to embrace the truth about themselves.
Dwyane Wade and her wife Gabrielle Union have been very supportive of their daughter. While talking to Craig Melvin on the '3rd Hour of Today' in 2021, Wade praised his daughter for being a strong human and expressed his family's role in Zaya's life.
"She's the strong one in this family. She's a hero," Dwyane said. "It's our family's job to make sure that we listen to her. We listen to the doctors. We ask questions and we formulate our own ideas of how Zaya should be and should be raised in this world and we don't allow others to do that for us."
Other notable individuals who attended the Out100 celebration were Tom Daley, Nymphia Wind and Miss Peppermint.
Dwyane Wade once said that her daughter coming out 'opened his eyes'
It has been quite some time since Zaya Wade came out to her family. Her confession changed the perspective of the three-time NBA champion as he once said that it 'opened his eyes.'
While talking to Craig Melvin on the '3rd Hour of Today' in June 2021, Dwyane Wade talked about his experience of being a father to a transgender daughter.
"I didn't know anything. I really wasn't knowledgeable about the LGBTQ+ community," Wade said. "What it has done is it opened my eyes and my ears to something greater and bigger than I, and my daughter has allowed us gracefully to be her support system."
Apart from Zaya, Dwyane Wade has four children – Kaavia, Zaire, Xavier and Dahveon.
Dahveon Morris is the nephew of the former Miami Heat star. D-Wade got full custody of his nephew when he was 12 years old. However, her mother Deanna Morris still maintained her parental rights.
