Dwyane Wade's wife Gabrielle Union weighs Donald Trump’s agenda for women with 2-word response
Dwyane Wade's wife Gabrielle Union weighed in on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's agenda for women ahead of the elections next week. Union offered a brief reaction to it that summed up her take.
The film and television actress took to her Instagram stories on Saturday, sharing a video clip of blogger and activist Tarana Burke (Tarana Janeen) of Trump's views of women under his leadership if reelected to the presidency.
"Hell No," Union's story read.
Union is the latest celebrity to come out and speak against Trump, the 45th U.S. president, who served from 2017 to 2021 and is seeking to return to the Oval Office in the Nov. 5 elections. She is supporting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
She joined the likes of LeBron James, Steph Curry, Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce, Eminem, and Bruce Springsteen in urging the American people not to vote Trump back into office. Trump is currently locked in a tight race with current Vice-President Harris, who stepped in after incumbent Joe Biden decided to withdraw from his re-election bid.
Dwyane Wade previously hit out at Donald Trump over perceived political gains at the expense of family tragedy
Dwyane Wade has not outrightly spoken against Donald Trump ahead of elections next week like his wife Gabrielle Union. He has, however, hit out at the former U.S. president in the past, who he felt took advantage of their family tragedy for political gains.
Back in 2016, Wade's cousin, Nykea Aldridge, died in a shooting in his hometown of Chicago while pushing her infant daughter's stroller in the city's South Side. Trump picked up on the development and asserted on Twitter that the incident proved that African Americans would vote for him:
"Dwyane Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!"
Dwyane Wade was not pleased had said and responded (via ABC News):
"I was grateful that it started a conversation but on the other hand, it just left a bad taste in my mouth because of what my family is dealing with and what our city of Chicago is dealing with and it looks like it's being used as political gain."
Trump won the elections and served from 2017 to 2021. He is now seeking another term in elections set for Nov. 5 against Democratic candidate and current U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris.
