"Dying to ruin his career" - Ja Morant allegedly flashing gun on IG live sparks strong reactions from fans, labeling him as a "tremendous idiot"
Ja Morant has been in the limelight for most of the season because of his incredible basketball skills. He is a walking highlight reel who can have fans stand up in excitement.
He has also been involved in a few controversies that have caused people to question his focus. He recently posted on Instagram a story of himself holding a gun.
Basketball fans and even casual observers promptly blasted him for it.
"This dude is dying to ruin his career."
Just a few days ago, he was also criticized for overcelebrating in a game against the Houston Rockets. The All-Star guard excitedly had his "guns out" after teammate Desmond Bane drained a corner three-pointer.
"G12" was also reportedly involved in an altercation this summer. Per "The Washington Post," Morant punched a 17-year-old boy during a supposedly friendly basketball game.
The NBA superstar allegedly hit the boy "12 to 13" times. Based on the said report, the boy, who was then on the ground, saw Morant put his hand over a gun that was tucked inside his pants.
The same report mentioned that the police were never able to ascertain if the Memphis Grizzlies guard had a gun in his possession.
Ja Morant and guns have been a consistent theme since the summer. Shannon Sharpe and some fans have accused him of desperately wanting to be a hood. Hopefully, this will not have a negative impact on his playing career and the people around him.
Ja Morant couldn't lead the Memphis Grizzlies past the Denver Nuggets last night
In a battle between the two teams holding the best record in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets (45-19) handily beat the Memphis Grizzlies (38-24). They extended their lead atop the standings by six games.
Denver won the season series 2-1. Should Memphis catch them in the standings and end the regular season with the same record, the Nuggets will still be the top seed.
Morant played 33 minutes and finished with 27 points, 10 assists, four rebounds and two steals. He played the entire game while wearing a mask after suffering a nasal fracture in the game against the Houston Rockets.
The mask didn't seem to bother the explosive point guard as he still managed to put up his usual sterling numbers. His efforts, though, weren't enough to carry the Grizzlies on the road.
Ja Morant is scheduled to have his face checked for a customized mask when the Memphis Grizzlies go to Los Angeles. They will face the LA Clippers on Sunday and then the LA Lakers on Tuesday.
