"Enjoying Jaylen's demure & calmness" - Jaylen Brown wins over non-NBA fans as latest interview earns new fandom for Celtics superstar
Jaylen Brown took on the “Wings of Death” on “Hot Ones,” the popular show where athletes and celebrities eat chicken wings that grow increasingly spicier. The Boston Celtics star had some sweaty moments but conquered the challenge with aplomb. Sean Evans, the host of the show, walked away impressed by Brown’s competitiveness.
Taylor Snow, an insider for the Celtics, highlighted Brown’s appearance on the said show on his X account. Snow noted how the 2024 NBA Finals MVP gained “new followers,” many of them “non-NBA fans.”
Here are some reactions compiled by Snow to Brown’s interview while taking on the “Wings of Death:”
“I have no interest in the NBA or basketball in general but I found myself thoroughly enjoying Jaylen Brown’s demure and calmness."
@nathaliec8853 added:
“I think I just fell in love lol. Had no idea who this person was but man his mind and the way he speaks is something else as an athlete.”
@JimFG commented:
“This man used to hang out in the back row of MIT lectures for FUN. Bro’s built different.”
One fan gave Brown his props despite not knowing who the NBA All-Star was:
“What a thoughtful, well-spoken and intelligent guest. Really enjoyed this one.”
Jaylen Brown thought of drinking water but when Sean Evans told him some previous guests didn’t, the Celtics guard held his own. Brown was the guest and the celebrity but he put part of the spotlight on the host.
“JB,” said Evans, who eats the progressively spicier chicken wings with the guests, “should get an award.”
Jaylen Brown tells “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans how the Celtics can defend their title
After Jaylen Brown finished the challenge, “Hot Ones” host Sean Evans gave three rapid-fire questions. Evans began the sequence by asking him to name a non-playoff team last season to make noise in the 2024-25 campaign. Brown thought for a bit before predicting that the Memphis Grizzlies would be just that team.
Evans' questioning continued by prodding Brown to reveal who he would want to see most in the dunk contest. “JB,”, unsurprisingly, brought up Zion Williamson.
Finally, the three-time All-Star was asked to name the biggest reason why the Boston Celtics could defend their title. Brown said that “if healthy,” the Cs are ending the new season as back-to-back champs.
