“Everybody might as well eat off the court” - Former NBA Champion roasts Denver Nuggets for abysmal Game 6 beatdown as fans get free chicken

The Denver Nuggets got embarrassed at the Target Center on Thursday. With the Minnesota Timberwolves' season on the line, they came out to blow out the defending champs, 115-70. Nuggets forward Julian Strawther earned a trip to the line; however, the Target Center went wild, making it difficult to make any of his free throws.

With both his free throws resulting in misses, the crowd earned free chicken sandwiches, which led to former NBA champion Richard Jefferson, who was on the broadcast to say:

"Everybody was eating on the court, everybody might as well eat off the court tonight."

Extending their season, the Timberwolves secured a resounding 115-70 triumph in Game 6, paving the way for a decisive Game 7 showdown in Denver on Sunday. This upcoming clash marks only the second Game 7 in franchise history, following the Wolves' memorable seven-game series victory against Sacramento in 2004.

Right from the outset, the Wolves' defensive intensity mirrored their stellar performance in Game 2, contrasting starkly with their struggles in the preceding three matchups. Notably, they contained Jamal Murray effectively, limiting him to a mere 10 points on a 4-for-18 shooting performance.

Closer look at how Minnesota Timberwolves dominated Denver Nuggets in Game 6

Following two victories against the Nuggets in Denver, the Timberwolves faced a setback with three consecutive losses, setting the stage for a pivotal Game 6 in a second-round series deemed by many as potentially decisive for this year's NBA title race. The Wolves' triumph stands as the second-largest margin of victory when facing elimination in postseason history.

Conversely, for the Nuggets, the defeat marked the lowest-scoring game of the Michael Malone era and the fewest points they've ever accumulated in a playoff contest.

Minnesota found themselves in an early 9-2 deficit but swiftly retaliated with an impressive 27-2 run, eventually establishing a commanding 24-point lead in the first half. The Nuggets struggled with shooting accuracy and failed to secure rebounds, resulting in a relentless onslaught from the Wolves.

Notably, Anthony Edwards showcased his scoring prowess with 14 points in the opening quarter, matching Denver's total points for the entire period. Edwards concluded the game with an impressive 27 points and contributed three steals, while Jaden McDaniels bolstered the effort with an additional 21 points.

Although the Nuggets briefly showed signs of resurgence in the second quarter, with Nikola Jokic remaining on the court late and narrowing the deficit to 11 points as the Wolves endured a stretch of nine consecutive missed field goals, it was a fleeting moment. Additionally, this phase marked the only instance in the game where Denver outperformed in rebounding.

However, fouls favored the Wolves, and as soon as Jokic was substituted out, the Wolves capitalized with an immediate 8-0 run.

Game 7 takes place at Ball Arena on Sunday.
