"Everyone can get it": Dwyane Wade pays the price of partying as he gets candid on injury setback
Dwyane Wade enjoyed an eventful Thanksgiving celebration with his family and other loved ones on Thursday. Wade was seen partying with his family, sharing a feastful dinner and rocking out to songs in karaoke sessions together.
However, Wade was nursing an ankle injury during the celebrations following a workout before the special occasion. He shared his injury setback in his Instagram stories, showing how badly his ankle was hurt after a workout day and a Thanksgiving celebration.
“Rolled my ankle in the gym yesterday and this was me last night…Today, I’m paying for it,” Wade said as he showed moments from their family’s Thanksgiving celebration.
Dwyane Wade then explained how he got hurt in his workouts, posting clips from his on-court session where he showed off his post moves before rolling his ankle.
“Everyone can get it. Old, young, athletic, or unathletic,” Wade wrote in his IG story, explaining how his nankle got hurt.
The retired point guard showed his athleticism in his workout routine, which included dunks, layups, footwork, and low-post moves.
In another IG story, Wade showed how he tried to negate the pain and swelling by dumping his foot in ice water.
“The results will show,” he said.
Dwyane Wade, a three-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, has been five years removed from ending his illustrious 16-year career.
He averaged 22.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.4 assists throughout his NBA career, as he played with some of the best players ever, such as LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Derrick Rose, and Chris Bosh.
Dwyane Wade says LeBron James stopped him from signing with the Chicago Bulls in 2010
In the latter portion of his career, Dwyane Wade jumped around the league, playing briefly with the Chicago Bulls in the 2016-2017 season and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2017-2018 before returning to the Heat to finish his career.
Wade, however, revealed he almost signed with the Bulls in 2010 before LeBron James called him and convinced him to stay.
"I was actually leaving Miami at that time," Wade said. "I didn't think there was nobody out there that we could get was gonna help us get to that level…But I got that call man...I got a call from No. 6,” Wade said.
James, who wore number six during his time with the Heat, joined Dwyane Wade in Miami from 2010 to 2015. The team won two titles together, creating classics against the Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the San Antonio Spurs.
LeBron James and Wade again became teammates in 2017 before the latter was traded back to the Heat, where he ultimately walked to the sunset.
