"F**k you": Russell Westbrook's alleged NSFW back and forth with Mavs fans after Flagrant 1 call goes viral
Russell Westbrook comes off the bench for the LA Clippers to give his team a jolt on both ends of the floor. In Game 2, the Dallas Mavericks’ biggest run in the fourth quarter came when Ty Lue called “Brodie” back for a breather. Westbrook is expected to have another important role for Lue in Game 3 as the Clippers try to reclaim home-court advantage.
After a lethargic start, the Mavericks turned on the jets in the second quarter. They were in the midst of a rally in the said period when this happened:
Luka Doncic intercepted James Harden's cross-court pass and sprinted to the other end of the court. “Luka Legend” saw Josh Green racing down the other side of the floor with him and whipped the ball to him. Russell Westbrook desperately went after Green and tried to block what might have been a thunderous dunk.
Westbrook inadvertently hit Green on the head, causing the Mavs’ backup guard to fall hard. Players from both teams rushed to Dallas’ end of the court while the fans were shouting vitriol at “Brodie.” The LA Clippers star responded to all the taunting by saying:
“F**k you!”
The booing directed at Russell Westbrook only got louder when he was called for a Flagrant Foul 1. Fans inside the Mavericks’ home court wanted a Flagrant Foul 2 which would have meant an automatic ejection. Green shook off the fall and took the free throws while Westbrook remained in the game.
Mavericks fans have been trolling Russell Westbrook with every miss
Shouts of “Westbrick” can be heard above the din inside the American Airlines Center every time Russell Westbrook misses a shot. “Brodie” is now 0-for-5 including two misfired 3-pointers, causing Dallas Mavericks fans to lustily call him that name. The Mavericks faithful also often boo at him even when he just touches the ball.
How Mavericks fans are reacting to Westbrook isn’t going to go away anytime soon. After his hard foul on Josh Green, supporters of the home team have more fuel to go after him. As Game 3 intensifies, they will only be more driven to troll the former LA Lakers superstar.
Game 4 will remain in Dallas regardless of the outcome of Friday’s encounter. Russell Westbrook will have to get used to Mavericks fans giving him the same treatment. Whether he plays well or struggles as he has been in Game 3, he will not be spared from the boos and the whistles.
