Fans chip in opinion as Kyrie Irving to Dallas Mavericks is confirmed: “The Nets traded for three 12 year olds”, “Now announce Durant to Bulls”
Kyrie Irving is now a member of the Dallas Mavericks franchise, the team confirmed last Monday. After the news of the trade started breaking on Sunday, fans couldn't help but share their reactions.
NBA insider Shams Charania confirmed that the trade was finalized by both teams on Monday. Before that, ESPN reported that a third team could get in the mix as the Nets tried to expand their trade. However, the Mavs already need Irving to be with the team ahead of their third game of their road trip against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.
Now that the trade has been finalized, both teams can continue their seasons. However, fans have been waiting for confirmation from both sides and shared their reactions after receiving news that Irving is now a guard for Dallas.
Here are some of the fan reactions after Irving was officially announced for the Mavericks.
Together with Irving, Brooklyn forward Markieff Morris was also part of the trade.
It will be interesting to see how coach Jason Kidd will make it work with two guards who are ball-dominant in the starting lineup, Irving and Dallas star Luka Doncic.

How does Kyrie Irving impact the Mavericks?
Kyrie Irving is a stellar talent on the court. He demands respect on the offensive end and can seal the game for his team when needed. This is the type of description one would give when talking about Luka Doncic as well. With two perimeter players who need the ball in their hands to be effective, just how will their team function?
Many have compared Doncic to LeBron James for his all-around style of play. This kind of approach could be the key to how the two guards will be able to play alongside each other. Irving already has experience playing with LeBron, and many expect that he'll be able to adapt to Luka's style quickly.
For the Slovenian star, this could be a tougher transition, as he's never had a teammate as good as Irving. Fans might see him adjust and struggle a bit during the early stages, but that won't last long. The new duo in the West could wreak havoc and pose as a threat.
