Fans go berserk as Saddiq Bey sinks buzzer-beating game-winner against Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors went down against the Detroit Pistons in the dying seconds of the game. Saddiq Bey hit a toughly-contested three-pointer to win the game, and NBA fans poured in their reactions to the Warriors' heartbreaking loss.
The Golden State Warriors were on quite the high during their nine-game homestand. Having notched five wins in a row without Steph Curry, the Dubs looked nigh unbeatable at home.
However, the weight of the performances caught up with Golden State, and finally, it all came crashing down against the Detroit Pistons.
The game was tightly contested from beginning to end as both teams exchanged timely buckets to stay within punching distance. However, the Pistons managed to stay in front just by a bit, which left the Warriors in a vulnerable position to chase.
In the final seconds of the game, the Dubs saw a glimmer of hope as veteran star Klay Thompson shone again and hit a three-pointer to level the score. With one second left on the clock, the Warriors were prepared for this game to go into OT.
However, the Pistons saw Saddiq Bey, who has developed a penchant for hitting big shots, emerge as their hero.
Shooting a clutch three-pointer over Kevon Looney after a poor defensive switch by Thompson, Bey tore the Warriors' hearts out to lead Detroit to a win.
The exciting exchange saw emotions flare all over the place. This was evident from the reactions fans sent to the shot and the end result. Here are some of the best reactions on Twitter:
Having handed the Warriors their first loss in six games, the Pistons have also managed to sweep Golden State this season.
The loss to the Detroit Pistons isn't a major concern for the Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors were in tremendous rhythm heading into Wednesday night's game against the Detroit Pistons. On the back of a five-game winning streak, the Warriors also had solid momentum and morale after a close win in their previous outing.
A 17-2 record at home is also quite intimidating when facing one of the poorer teams in the East. However, the Pistons practically left the Warriors shell-shocked after this outing.
The loss could have a lot of negative connotations for Golden State. Considering their mindset and confidence while playing at home, a loss like this could instill some doubt.
However, with three games left at home, the Golden State Warriors have enough time to reset their feet. Meanwhile, looking at the stats from the game, the Warriors saw fairly solid contributions all across the board, barring a few players.
In light of Steph Curry's imminent return, the Warriors are in a solid place to regain their momentum. But considering their abysmal road record, the Dubs will have to capitalize on every remaining game during this homestand.
