“I need to know what you’re drinking”, “Stick to figuring out the salary cap”, “Mf don’t even play D” - Fans mock NBA analyst as he picks Steph Curry over LeBron James as second-best player ever

Steph Curry and LeBron James are two of the top stars in the NBA. They are also interestingly linked from the fact that they were born in the same hospital in Akron, Ohio.

Over the past season, people have debated where Curry ranks on the GOAT list. ESPN's Bobby Marks said he would place Steph Curry in the top three, ahead of LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar.

Fans and colleagues laid into the NBA analyst for his controversial take.

I know the saying is “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” but I need to know what you’re drinking @BobbyMarks42 🤣👊🏾🤷🏾‍♂️ twitter.com/espnnba/status…
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Stick to figuring out the salary cap
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Dude is high
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 He don’t know ball https://t.co/Kq24BBLYqa

One fan believed Marks made the remarks because of his history with LeBron James. Some fans, meanwhile, praised James in the Twitter feed.

@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 He's still mad lebron ran the 2014 nets in out the playoffs and messed up his blockbuster trade
@NBAComedy2 @ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Lmfao..... lebron never was on a team where he can be the 2nd best performer and win it all. Never.
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Recency bias 🥱🤷🏾‍♂️ bron be back to show why he’s the greatest after having the the greatest 19th season ever 😂😂 he’ll have the greatest 20th 🤷🏾‍♂️ (expect when he plays the sixers….hopefully)

While Marks received most of the criticism, Steph Curry caught the rest.

@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Curry is great don’t get me wrong but 2nd best never mf don’t even play D have to be able to play both sides of the ball at 1 pointe in yo career and he haven’t too 10 for sure i will even give him too 5 if you want to say top 2 never!!!
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 This is a horrendous take and ESPN should be ashamed to air it. I'm no lebron fan but that is completely disrespectful. Curry is by far a better shooter but lebron does everything else better and has for a longer period of time
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Lol. Kobe on one leg is light years better than Curry. And LeBron is better than Kobe. This is joke, good one Bobby Marks!
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Bobby stay off the Weeeeeeeda!!!!😂 Second best please stop it!Maybe the best shooter but best player never!2nd best involves way more than just shooting,it involves defense, rebounding,assists &carrying a team when ur the only superstar player on the team w/role players! IE AI💪🏾
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Defense doesn’t matter anymore? How the the curry surpassed Kobe, Duncan and Kareem? Lol
@ESPNNBA @BobbyMarks42 Curry can never be in the GOAT debate after that 2016 meltdown.

He compares him to Jordan but Jordan never choked when it mattered the most.

What exactly did Bobby Marks say about Steph Curry that led to him being mocked?

NBA fans disliked Steph Curry being ranked ahead of LeBron James by Bobby Marks.

Bobby Marks controversially placed Steph Curry ahead of LeBron James in his all-time list. Marks hailed James as a phenomenal player, but said Curry reminded him of Michael Jordan in his prime.

"I actually think Steph Curry is the second-greatest player of all time, right behind Michael Jordan. Curry has this instinct what I saw with Jordan, where anytime he has the ball, you think it's going to go in. ... I would put Curry ahead of LeBron James right now as far as that No. 2 guy."
"I saw Jordan in his prime in the ‘90s," he added. "Curry reminds me a lot of that offensively where he is a threat to beat you in a lot of different ways."
"[Steph Curry] is the 2nd-best player of all-time"

Both Curry and James have won four NBA titles and are easily among the best players of their generation.
