Fans roast Anthony Edwards for telling Malika Andrews how he's the best in NBA right now: "It's always when Malika interviewing them", "He spittin"

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards made a bold statement during his recent interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews. The All-Star forward called himself the best player in the NBA.

The former No. 1 pick has improved significantly in his third year, especially defensively, while continuing to increase his production on offense. Edwards has made the leap into an All-Star caliber player, averaging 24.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, all career-highs.

He is also shooting a career-high 46.4% from the field, including 36.4% from 3-point range. However, some fans think that Edwards' assessment of himself is far-fetched.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star got called out for his comments on Twitter.

"It's always when Malika interviewing them bro," one fan wrote.

The tweet referred to how many players speak highly of themselves during interviews with Andrews. Meanwhile, one of Edwards' fans believed he was stating facts.

"He spittin."

Anthony Edwards might not be the best right now, but his ceiling is high

Anthony Edwards is only in his third year in the league. While it's good to have the confidence he does, it's no secret that he isn't the best player in the NBA right now. However, looking at how much Edwards has improved this early in his career, it's clear that he has the potential to become the league's best player in the future.

Edwards is only 21 but is averaging 24.9 points per game. He has also carried the load offensively for the Minnesota Timberwolves in Karl Anthony-Towns' absence. Towns has played only 21 of 61 games and is still out injured.

Nobody expected the Minnesota Timberwolves to stay afloat in the playioff race during KAT's absence. However, Anthony Edwards has put them on his back and led them to a 31-30 record in the stacked Western Conference. Edwards has been the ultimate "Iron Man" this season, playing all 61 games and the All-Star Game.

The Timberwolves are in the race to achieve a top-six berth, which would mean automatic qualification to the playoffs.

Edwards has also received recognition from former greats. In the All-Star draft, LeBron James picked Edwards with his first pick among the reserves, which goes to show the kind of impact the former Georgia prospect has on his peers as well.
