Fans roast Detroit Pistons as they tried trolling Kyrie Irving by throwing shade at his antisemitic issue
Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets topped the Detroit Pistons 124-121 on Sunday despite trailing for most of the game. During the game, the Pistons' PA system messed around while the seven-time All-Star shot free throws in a stunt that backfired.
Kevin Durant led the way as the Nets (19-12) overcame a 10-point deficit that was present during much of the game.
Durant scored 43 points to will the team into victory. He also had great help from Irving, who had 38 points and shot 5-for-10 from 3-point range. They were two of only three players who scored in double digits for the Nets. The Pistons (8-24), meanwhile, were led by Bojan Bogdanovic with 26.
The PA system trolled the 2016 champion by presenting a spinning globe followed by a "Happy Hannukah" sign on the jumbotron screen. The latter was a shot at Irving's issues with antisemitism, which caused him to be suspended for eight games last month. Also, Irving has been criticized for pushing flat-earth theories.
Fans didn't think it was a funny move. Instead, they trolled the Pistons for losing to Irving and the Nets.
Here are some of the best reactions.
In the end, it was Irving who had the last laugh. His 38-point performance was too much for the Pistons to handle as they fumbled the lead late in the game. Detroit is in 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
