Fans share hilarious reactions to a post speculating a LeBron James' hook shot to surpass Kareem Abdul Jabbarโ€™s scoring record

LeBron James of the LA Lakers is on his way to breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's all-time scoring record this season. A page on Twitter posted the possibility of the 18-time All-Star using Abdul-Jabbar's skyhook move to break the record, and fans started going crazy about it.

James has 37,786 points and will likely break the once-seemingly unbreakable record held by Abdul-Jabbar, who retired in 1989, at some point this season. Ironically, the player breaking his record of 38,387 will be a player who doesn't have a score-first mentality. If James maintains his scoring average of 27.8 points per game, he'll need 22 games to pass Abdul-Jabbar.

During the Lakers' pregame warmup against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, James had a bit of fun with his teammates. He pulled out the skyhook and made a shot from the left corner. The shot was posted on Twitter, and speculations about how he'll make the shot with Kareem's signature move were brought up.

What if LeBron pulls out a skyhook when heโ€™s one bucket away from passing Kareem?

With everything else going on with the Lakers (14-2), breaking Abdul-Jabbar's record could be their only bright spot for their season. The event will overshadow their current record, highlighting James' legendary career when it happens.

LeBron James started on Wednesday night against his former team, the Miami Heat, to complete their back-to-back in Florida. The Lakers played against the Magic on Tuesday night to snap a four-game losing skid with a 129-110 win. Leading the way was James, who came up huge with 28 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Russell Westbrook had a historic performance as he managed to get his fourth triple-double of the season off the bench. Westbrook had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists. The Lakers guard shot 54.5%, including 33.3% from the 3-point area.

The Lakers are without their star big man, Anthony Davis. The 2020 champion is sidelined with a broken foot, which has taken a toll on their depth. Right now, James is doing everything he can to keep his team in the playoff picture and contend for a championship.
