Fans troll Mitchell Robinson for saying he's the best center in New York - "It's like being the best rapper in Nebraska"

Mitchell Robinson unhesitantly called himself the best center in New York after the Knicks' 1420118 blowout win over the Nets on Wednesday, their cross-town rivals. Robinson bagged 13 points and 10 rebounds. He anchored the Knicks' defense efficiently, helping them stay on top of Brooklyn for large swathes. Robinson took to Twitter to laud himself, writing:

"Fun fact. Best center in New York. And I'm standing 10 toes on that."

NBA fans showed no remorse to Robinson for tweeting this. The Knicks big ended up deleting the tweet later. One fan wrote:

"That's like being the best rapper in Nebraska."

Mitchell Robinson makes a dominant return from injury for streaking New York Knicks

Whether Mitchell Robinson is the best center in New York or not is debatable, with DPOY candidate Nicolas Claxton playing for the other team in the city. However, Robinson's contributions to the Knicks' recent success cannot be ignored. New York is on a seven-game winning streak. Robinson has played the last four games during that stretch and has anchored the team efficiently on defense.

The New York Knicks were 8-6 in his absence due to a thumb injury between January 20th and February 23rd. They ranked 24th on defense during that stretch, with a 118.6 rating. Since Robinson's return on February 24th in the 115-109 win over the Wizards, the Knicks are 4-0, with an offensive rating of 123.8 (second in the league) and a defensive rating of 106.5 (sixth in the league).

Mitchell Robinson has averaged 11.0 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in that stretch. New York was able to come out on top against teams like the Pelicans and Celtics with Robinson on the floor. Even when he isn't scoring big points on offense, he is helping the Knicks secure 3.0 offensive rebounds per game, which is crucial to gaining extra possessions and increasing their scoring opportunities.

The New York Knicks have improved to 37-27 for the year and are ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference. They are 1.5 games behind the fourth-placed Cavaliers, so a homecourt seeding for the second time in three seasons is well within their reach.

Mitchell Robinson isn't an All-Star, but he plays a crucial role, bringing tremendous stability on both ends of the court. The Knicks will be hoping he remains available in this final 18-game stretch of the regular season.
