Fired-up Luka Doncic seemingly shuts down Timberwolves with NSFW trash talk after ice-cold shot
Luka Doncic was fired up after hitting an incredible 3-pointer to seal the Dallas Mavericks' 120-114 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. The crowd at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was left stunned and silent as Doncic nailed a 32-foot dagger.
The highlight moment came with the Mavericks leading 114-109 and 1:04 left on the clock. Facing Nickeil Alexander-Walker one-on-one, Doncic launched a shot from the logo, sinking it decisively. Pumped with adrenaline, the five-time All-Star then seemingly shouted an NSFW remark toward the crowd.
"That's what I fucking do," Doncic seemed to have said.
On a night when the Slovenian superstar struggled with shooting efficiency, Doncic’s boldness in attempting a deep 3-pointer underscored his confidence. Once the shot dropped, the Mavericks extended their lead to eight points, effectively shutting down any chance of a Timberwolves comeback.
The reigning Western Conference Finals MVP wrapped up the game with 24 points on 10 of 27 shooting, including 1 of 9 from 3-point range. He also contributed eight rebounds, eight assists and one steal.
Luka Doncic on his deep dagger vs. Timberwolves
After the game, Luka Doncic reflected on his clutch shot, expressing amazement at his own ability and admitting that making shots like that isn’t exactly “normal.”
"I don't know how I make those shots and not normal shots," Doncic said, as quoted by the Mavericks beat reporter Mike Curtis on X (formerly Twitter). "Just gotta get the rustiness out. I didn't play in the whole preseason so I need some time. But we got the win. That's all that matters."
Meanwhile, Mavericks coach Jason Kidd emphasized Doncic's confidence in taking and making crucial shots when it matters most.
"He enjoyed being able to have that opportunity," said Kidd. "Someone just said it, 'We’ve seen this movie before.' Luka loves the opportunity to win the game. He’s not scared to step up and make big shots."
Dallas moved to a 3-1 record for the season with their big win over the Timberwolves. Doncic and the Mavericks next face the Houston Rockets on Thursday.
