FIRST LOOK: Rigorer and Austin Reaves set to release budget-friendly 'AR Battle 2' outdoor shoe

Ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, Austin Reaves and Rigorer are set to bring NBA fans an all-new budget-friendly shoe made for outdoor play. As basketball fans know, the soles of many performance sneakers designed for basketball quickly wear down when worn outdoors. While protruding traction patterns grip indoor courts extremely well, they don't hold up outdoors.

After celebrating a full year of the Rigorer AR1s, and showing off the forthcoming AR2 design during a trip to China this summer, Austin Reaves and Rigorer are teaming up to release the AR Battle 2.

According to a press release sent to Sportskeeda's Evan Bell courtesy of KICKS CREW, the shoes will be released on Sep. 14 at 11 a.m. Eastern (8 a.m. Pacific). The first-ever AR Battle 2 colorway, Think Pink will sell for $80 on Rigorer's site as well as renowned global sneaker marketplace KICKS CREW.

Reaves spoke about his excitement surrounding the AR Battle 2 shoes:

“My partnership with Rigorer has always been centered around delivering high-performing quality products at affordable price points. We succeeded in doing so with the AR1, and now I am thrilled to offer a brand new model at an even lower price to my fans around the world."

The Rigorer AR Battle 2 Think Pink colorway releasing on Saturday will have a blend of Rigorer's signature performance technology as seen in Austin Reaves' signature AR1 shoe. In addition, the shoes will also feature some new technology specifically geared toward players hooping on outdoor courts.

Below the Bubble Bounce midsole and a Nylon Anti-Torsion Plate, the AR Battle 2 shoes will have a rubber outsole with an all-new compound to perform well and survive the harsh environments of outdoor courts.

As the press release from KICKS CREW also noted, the shoes will tip off the AR Battle 2 line, which is separate from Reaves' signature shoe line.

Ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, Austin Reaves showed off the Rigorer AR2 shoes during a trip to China, with the LA star and Rigorer founder Chenyao Lin giving fans a glimpse at two different colorways.

While no official release date has been set, the expectation is that the shoes will hit shelves in the US around the Holiday season.
