Former 6MOTY Jamal Crawford bags major role for Knicks ahead of 2024-25 season: Report

Jamal Crawford will reportedly join the New York Knicks as a game analyst this season. A NY Knicks fan page on X, formerly Twitter, made a post informing the fans about the news while crediting The Athletic's Andrew Marchand.

As per Marchand, Hall of Famers Clyde Frazier and Mike Breen are tasked with covering the majority of Knicks games, while Crawford will be with the team for 10 games. The former three-time sixth man of the year is a much-desired free agent in the analyst market after he parted ways with TNT Sports.

Marchand has shown belief in Crawford landing a national-level gig with either ESPN, Amazon or NBC.

"It would be surprising if Crawford does not land a national job," he wrote.

Jamal Crawford spent two decades in the NBA as a professional basketball player. He started his career with the Bulls after the franchise drafted him eighth overall in the 2000 NBA draft. He ended his career with the Brooklyn Nets in 2020, after which he stepped into the world of media and sports analysis. During his career, Crawford played for nine franchises, including the New York Knicks.

New York Knicks show great potential ahead of the 2024-25 season

The New York Knicks have shown great potential ahead of their season opener against the NBA champions Boston Celtics on Oct. 22. The orange and blue have won all four of their preseason matchups so far, with the latest one coming against the Charlotte Hornets (111-105).

Moreover, the Hornets matchup featured a starting lineup of only bench players. Precious Achiuwa led the charts with 20 points, 16 rebounds and three assists. The Hornets ran a starting lineup variation with Lonzo Ball and Miles Bridges.

The Hornets game has already started notions of New York having the best bench in the league. Looking at the starting lineup of the Orange and Blue, they have formidable names like Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and their latest addition, Karl-Anthony Towns.

Out of those five, two are All-Star level players. This squad has great potential on paper and can shake the standings in the Eastern Conference and possibly even break the Celtics' dominance once the season starts.
