Former NBA champ boldly predicts JJ Redick's Lakers to have 72-10 season with Anthony Davis winning MVP

Former NBA champion and LA Lakers player Nick Young predicts Anthony Davis will win the MVP award while leading the team to a 72-10 record this season. It's the first time since the 2010-11 season that the Lakers have won two straight games to start the season. As of now, they are 3-0, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings.

Many assumed that the Lakers' success has a lot to do with JJ Redick taking over as the team's head coach. Young made bold predictions about how LA's season could conclude this year.

"Lakers might go 72-10 this yr ad MVP," Young posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Anthony Davis' MVP performances this season

In the LA Lakers' 3-0 start, Anthony Davis has been a major factor. In their opening game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Davis came up with a huge double-double outing with 36 points and 16 rebounds.

Then in their game against the Phoenix Suns, the "Brow" had 35 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal. Finally, in their latest game against the Sacramento Kings, Davis had 31 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

"AD" is yet to score under 30 points, which is why many believe he could win the MVP award this season. However, given that there are still 79 games to go, it's still premature to make these assumptions. Nevertheless, Davis deserves all the praise he's receiving.

Throughout his tenure with the Lakers, Anthony Davis has struggled in terms of availability. While he did help win a championship in LA back in 2020, they were never able to replicate that success due to his inconsistencies on the court and injury problems.

LeBron James said in the past that he's no longer the star of the show and wants Davis to take over as the team's leader. But based on "AD's" performances as of late, it seems he's finally ready to take on that responsibility.

If Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers continue to perform the way they have, Nick Young's bold predictions might not be as farfetched as it seems.
