Former NBA champion dubs 76ers as 'Avengers' following Daryl Morey’s major roster overhaul

Reggie Jackson, the latest addition to the Philadelphia 76ers, has called his new team "Avengers." He joined his former LA Clippers teammate Paul George, who left the Clippers in free agency. With some of the biggest names in the NBA on the roster, Jackson has a new name for the Sixers team

On Tuesday, in a post on X, formerly known as “Twitter” Jackson was seen shooting a shoutout video for the 76ers fans. In the video, Jackson called his new team, the “Avengers.”

“What up Sixers fans, you now Sixers nation Reggie here your boy Andre, and we can’t wait to go work with three great superstars and, shoot feel like the Avengers. Hopefully, I have a great one. See you all soon.

Jackson was traded to the Charlotte Hornets in July. The Hornets acquired him and three future second-round draft picks from the Nuggets in return for a 2025 second-round pick and some cash considerations.

He's an excellent offensive player and could become a great pick for the Sixers” bench. Last season, with the Nuggets, he played all 82 games and averaged 10.2 points and 3.8 assists. He also shot 35.9% from 3-point range and was a part of the Nuggets' championship team in 2023.

76ers emerge as potential title contenders for 2024-25 season

The Philadelphia 76ers and Daryl Morey went beast mode in the 2024 NBA free agency. The Sixers signed Tyrese Maxey to an extension and got an excellent player at the wing to make themselves competitive in the East.

The 76ers did more than that. They not only re-signed Tyrese Maxey for a five-year, $204 million deal, but also signed an All-Star wing in Paul George. One of the most prolific scorers in the league, George gives the Sixers immense depth which makes them one of the most lethal pick-and-roll teams in the league.

Moreover, the Sixers now have one of the best players at all three positions; guard, wing and center, which makes Joel Embiid, Maxey and PG the most lethal trio in the league. They also added Andre Drummond who could substantially elevate the overall rebounding.

The other names who were newly added to the roster are Eric Gordon and Reggie Jackson. Gordon could substantially elevate the 3-point percentage, while Jackson could help the bech.

However, Sixers coach Nick Nurse has a job to make this team work and get better than the reigning champions Boston Celtics. His team might be great on paper, but how Nurse capitalizes on it remains a big question.
