Gabrielle Union super proud as Dwyane Wade gets a street named after him near Heat’s Kaseya Center
Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade's wife, recently expressed her immense pride in her husband's latest achievement. After 15 seasons with the Miami Heat, Wade became their greatest player of all time and the celebrations continue as the Heat community continues to honor his legendary career.
A couple of days before the unveiling of his bronze statue at Kaseya Center, Wade received another major honor. Three years after the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to rename a portion of Northeast 7th Street as Dwyane Wade Boulevard, the Miami Heat made a major announcement on Instagram.
"We know you’ve been waiting for this outside of Kaseya Center 🤩," they captioned the post.
Gabrielle Union was overjoyed upon hearing the news, sharing the original post on her Instagram stories and adding a heartfelt message to celebrate her husband's latest milestone.
"Surreal. And so damn proud of @dwyanewade and it's only just the beginning," the actress wrote.
Moreover, she hyped up Wade and his former teammate Bam Adebayo as they unveiled a newly designed basketball court. The court was a collaborative effort between Wade's World Foundation and Adebayo's BBB Foundation, aimed at giving back to the Miami community.
They hosted an event at the Champman Partnership on Thursday, which was attended by several current and former Heat players, including A'ja Wilson. Union celebrated this occasion, also praising Wade and Adebayo for their love and respect for their mothers.
"If you know anything about @bam1of1 & @dwyanewade THEY LOVE THEY MAMAS!!! Downnnnnn🥰," she captioned her next story.
Dwyane Wade calls Miami 'home' ahead of special ceremony
After his remarkable stint with the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade will have his statue unveiled at Kaseya Center this Sunday. Talking with Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, the shooting guard said that he considers Miami home despite leaving town and moving to California.
“I can’t even call it a second home,” Wade said. “It’s home. It will always be home. I always feel it. There’s no feeling like Miami for me. I spent so much of my life here, I know so many crevices and corners of Miami. I know so many people here. So I love coming back. There’s no feeling like coming back here.”
Sunday will be a momentous occasion for Wade, Union, and the entire family. Flash played a pivotal role in the team's three NBA championships in five Finals appearances, solidifying his status as the greatest player in franchise history.
