Gabrielle Union shares touching moment between Dwyane Wade & daughter Kaavia during Heat tribute event
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have raised a beautiful family around them. When the former NBA player was shown the ultimate respect by the Miami Heat, through the unveiling of his statue, Wade was joined by his wife and all his children. This included Kaavia, the only child he shares with Union.
Earlier today, Union posted a story on her Instagram that captured a wholesome and touching moment between daughter Kaavia and dad Dwyane Wade. In the video, Kaavia sat on her mother's lap while she kept looking at her father who was tearing up during the Heat's tribute.
While she kept looking at him, she slowly extended her arms and put them on her father, comforting him. Later on, the 5-year-old got off of her mother's lap and went to her father as she put her head on his chest to comfort him.
Since going public with their relationship in 2010, the couple have broken barriers together, as they sailed through some of the most difficult times of their married life.
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union welcomed their first child Kaavia in November 2018 through surrogacy. While this is the first child that Union has had, Wade has two other children, with his former wife Siohvaughn Funches. He has a son, Zaire Wade, and a daughter, Zaya Wade, too.
Gabrielle Union pens an emotional note for Dwyane Wade on their 10-year anniversary
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union got married on August 30, 2014. 10 years later, the couple is still going strong while they are getting more and more time to spend together after Wade's retirement.
On their 10-year anniversary, Union took to her social media and posted a series of pictures from their anniversary celebration. However, what stood out in the post was her loving message for her husband in the caption, calling him her "homie," "lover" and "best friend."
"10 years of having a very long, very fun, very loving, never ending sleepover with my homie, lover, partner, and best friend," Union wrote. "Through sickness and health, crisis and celebrations, through bad golf days and flubbed lines and new adventures... We stand united and we thrive. 10 toes down, 10 years in, forever to go."
Dwyane Wade and Union first met at a Super Bowl party in 2007. In conversation with Glamour, Union later said that when she met Wade for the first time, nothing about him spoke of a long relationship.
"When I met Dwyane, his résumé looked like crap: athlete, going through a divorce, nine years younger than me," Union said. "None of that screamed, 'Let's have a lasting relationship.'"
They went public with their relationship in 2010. However, the trouble wasn't far away as they went through a brief breakup in 2013. They got back together the same year and got engaged in December.
