"Gen Z"- Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo roast Tyrese Haliburton for struggling to spin the ball on his finger
Kevin Durant and Team USA seem to be gelling well ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Americans discovered who could spin a ball on one finger during a recent social media activity. Most stars, including Durant and Bam Adebayo, effortlessly succeeded, but Tyrese Haliburton failed badly.
Durant thought everyone could do it but to his surprise, Haliburton wasn't among them. The Pacers All-Star revealed that and predicted he could keep the ball spinning for less than half a second. Adebayo trolled Haliburton:
"Tyrese? ... Gen Z"
Meanwhile, Durant was stunned because he presumed point guards could do the trick.
"Hali? At the point guard don't know how to do it?" Durant said.
Haliburton wasn't the only one struggling with it, though. He had some elite company with All-timers Steph Curry and LeBron James also not being able to spin the ball on a finger.
The most impressive out of all was Jrue Holiday. He even bounced the ball off his knee in the middle of the spin. Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo were the other stars who pulled it off.
Kevin Durant on the sidelines as Team USA tipoff preps
Kevin Durant isn't taking part in the Team USA scrimmages. According to Sportskeeda's Mark Medina, Durant is dealing with a calf injury. It's a day-to-day issue. He was on the sidelines, though, as his teammates played a few young players on the Team USA select roster.
Durant didn't look uncomfortable and completed individual shooting drills. USA's all-time leading scorer is an integral part of the team. He has a wealth of Olympic experience, having played in the past two competitions and leading the country to gold medal wins.
He's also the veteran superstar alongside LeBron James and Steph Curry. The trio is likely among the starters. Fortunately, his injury seems minor, and the staff is taking precautions ahead of the warm-up games that begin Wednesday against Canada.
According to Medina, Durant assured coach Steve Kerr that his calf issue is not serious.
“Day-to-day,” Kerr said about Durant. “We’re just going to show an abundance of caution.”
Kevin Durant will likely take up the role of a primary scorer, with LeBron James as the primary facilitator. Steph Curry could do a bit of both with his gravity and off-ball movement.
