“Get off that anchor desk if you're not gonna do your job properly” – Rob Parker rages at JJ Redick for his recent comments on LeBron James and Lakers
Ahead of the start of the 77th NBA season, JJ Redick had a message for the fans of the Los Angeles Lakers. His comments about the franchise received mixed responses from people and Fox Sports' Rob Parker went berserk for it.
In a video posted by Fox Sports Radio on Twitter, sports journalist Rob Parker of the Odd Couple was furious about the comments that JJ Redick made the previous day. The Lakers aren't a sure threat in the NBA right now, but for Parker, that doesn't mean that fans should ignore their favorite team.
"You must be crazy we're gonna sit here and accept that we should just wave a flag for LeBron [James] all year and not worry about the final score or whether the Lakers win or lose. You must be crazy!" Parker said, as he called out JJ Redick.
"Get off that anchor desk if you're not gonna do your job properly!"
Parker was enraged at Redick's comments that he hit his microphone after his rant.
"Or at least, refund all the season ticket holders of the Lakers their money back!"
These aren't the only things that Rob Parker said. He also dared JJ Redick to quit his job as an analyst after his comments regarding the Lakers.
The Lakers have started incredibly slow this season. After two games, they've been exposed as a non-shooting team. During their first game of the season, the Lakers shot 25% from downtown. The Golden State Warriors dared the entire Lakers squad to make shots from downtown.
In their second game, they played decently and made the game close against the Los Angeles Clippers. However, All-Star guard Russell Westbrook wasn't able to contribute offensively. Westbrook had only two points and shot 0-11 from the field and 0-6 from downtown.
JJ Redick's comments about LeBron James and the Lakers that enraged Rob Parker
JJ Redick has been retired since the beginning of the 2021-22 NBA season. Since then, he's spent the majority of his time producing episodes on his podcast, the Old Man and the Three, and being an analyst on ESPN's First Take.
As part of the media, he's made some bold statements in the past that have caused serious discussions. Last season, he even talked about Bob Cousy's inclusion in the NBA's 75th Anniversary team. This time around, Redick caused Rob Parker to lose his composure after his remarks about the Lakers. Redick said that Laker fans should just focus on LeBron James' greatness this season.
"I look at the Lakers' season that we should treat this season as a celebration of LeBron's individual greatness. Because he will, at some point, hopefully pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and become the all-time leading scorer in NBA history," Redick said.
James is on his path to breaking Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record this season. It will cement his legacy as one of the greatest players in the history of the game. Now, for Parker, he acknowledges the fact that James should be recognized for his accomplishments. However, Parker disagrees that fans of the organization should focus on an individual's achievement.
