Giannis Antetokounmpo goes all in with 6-figure offer for rare LeBron James-Steph Curry-KD card: Report
Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to spend $1 million to get his hands on the trading card with LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Steph Curry's autographs. The triple-autographed trading card is from the Team USA gold medal-winning tournament at the Paris Olympics.
After card trading company Topps announced that it was releasing the single available iconic card for sale, Giannis immediately got into the game. Given how iconic the card is and the value it will hold in the future, it was bound to attract attention.
According to Sports Illustrated, the Milwaukee Bucks star initially offered $150,000 for the card. However, his price was quickly beaten by another sports card collector. Antetokounmpo increased the offer to $250,000.
According to the latest report by "thebuckszone" on Instagram, Antetokounmpo is currently ready to pay $1 million for the card. He had previously said that he would double the highest price for the sports card. The current highest price offered by a person other than the Bucks star is $500,000.
Given how much Giannis earns from his NBA salary and endorsements, it wouldn't be too difficult for the Bucks star to get the card. Last year, he signed a three-year, $186 million contract with the Bucks, which will pay him almost $60 million from the 2025-26 season.
Curry, LeBron and KD coming together for the Olympics was one the most iconic and rare moments in basketball history. The trio have never played together in the Olympics, nor have they been teammates on an NBA team.
Paul Pierce says Warriors should trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo
The Golden State Warriors are not going to win a title again if important pieces are not added anytime soon. With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, Golden State dominated most of the last decade. However, the Warriors have not been the same team since Kevin Durant left for the Brooklyn Nets after the 2018-19 season.
Although Curry and the Warriors won their fourth title in 2022, the dominance was never the same. Last season, they failed to make the playoffs, and the future for the Warriors doesn’t look too bright. NBA legend Paul Pierce came up with an almost impossible situation for the Warriors: trade for Giannis.
On an episode of “KG Certified,” while discussing Curry’s future with the Warriors, the former NBA champion said Antetokounmpo was the only way that the Warriors could win a title.
"[34:30] The only way I see Golden State getting back to where they need to get back to is if they can find a way to get Giannis over there," Pierce told Kevin Garnett.
The comment from Pierce left Garnett flabbergasted, as it should. From Antetokounmpo signing an extension contract with the Bucks, it doesn't seem like he is in the mood to leave. However, if his title-winning chances are lowered in Milwaukee, the move shouldn't be too surprising.
