Giannis Antetokounmpo revealed the time he texted his wife after arriving on the Olympic scene for the first time
Following Greece's 80-69 win over Croatia, Giannis Antetokounmpo was thrilled that he was heading into his first Olympic stint. When he first arrived on the scene of the international multi-sport event, he revealed how ecstatic the energy felt that he ended up immediately texting his wife about it.
"I remember when I came in the first day, I texted my wife and I told her I can't stop smiling," Antetokounmpo said (per FIBA.basketball). "It's just the atmosphere, the vibe is just different. Obviously, it's hard for me to be around every basketball player, because we compete against one another then you see them at the cafeteria or in the elevator ..."
In his 2024 Olympic run, Antetokounmpo put up 25.8 points (67.8% shooting), 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. After the group phase, the Antetokounmpo-led ball club struggled in the 76-63 quarterfinal loss against Germany. The Bucks forward dropped a 22-point outing while adding three assists and two rebounds.
Despite maintaining his competitive edge over other basketball players in the competition, he couldn't help but feel honored to be in the same environment as them.
