“Giannis, Luka & then Jason Tatum right now, Cooking” – 8X NBA all-star lists out Joel Embiid from his current top 3 players in NBA
Last weekend, Joel Embiid erupted for a 59-point performance in the Philadelphia 76ers win over the Utah Jazz. It was a big win for the team, who have gone just 7-7 this year and are currently battling without an injured James Harden.
With no other option but to put the team on his back like he has done so many times before, Embiid nearly put up a triple-double in the 59-point showing. Although it was an impressive feat, the 76ers are tied for seventh place in the Eastern Conference along with the New York Knicks.
By most accounts, the season has been a disappointment after many hoped the team would be one of the best in the East. The way NBA vet Vince Carter sees things, despite Embiid's dominance, he isn't on the same level as other young stars.
Over the course of a recent episode of The VC show, the former dunk contest king spoke about everything from the state of the Nets to Joel Embiid's recent 59-point game. With the Celtics and Bucks currently sitting atop the Eastern Conference, Carter named his current top 3 players in the league:
"I'm gonna say giannis-antetokounmpo" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">Giannis, Luka, and then Jayson Tatum. Those three right now. Cooking! So we can say, I just gave you those three, Giannis, Luka, Jayson Tatum, and then you can throw in Ja and then Embiid."
Breaking down Vince Carter's top 3 players
Like many fans and analysts, Carter named Giannis Antetokounmpo as the best player in the league. Although The Greek Freak fell short of back-to-back finals wins last season, the former two-time MVP has continued to dominate the game. So far this season, Giannis has continued to improve his game.
Over the course of ten games played so far this season, he is averaging a career-high 31.3 points per game along with a career-high 11.8 rebounds per game. During that time Antetokounmpo has helped the Bucks post one of the best records in the East.
Second on his list was Luka Doncic, another name that comes as a surprise to nobody. Although the Dallas Mavericks currently aren't a top-three team in the West, Doncic is averaging a career-high 34.4 points per game this season. In the thirteen games played, he has managed to average career-highs in field goal percentage and steals.
Last but certainly not least on Carter's top 3 list was Jayson Tatum, a superstar who often seems to be overlooked. Although Tatum and the Celtics went to the Finals last season, he is yet to win an MVP award. Despite that, he has helped lead the team to the best record in the Eastern Conference this season.
Although Ime Udoka is no longer handling coaching duties in Boston, you wouldn't know it based on their record. That is, of course, largely in part to Jayson Tatum.
