Gilbert Arenas' ex Laura Govan and family proudly watch daughter Izela Arenas' milestone in Paris
Izela Arenas, the daughter of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas and Laura Govan, scored the first point of her college basketball career in a game against UCLA in Paris. She and the Louisville Cardinals faced UCLA for the first time this season on November 4 at Adidas Arena in Paris. The game was part of the 2024 Aflac Oui-Play Event.
Laura Govan watched her daughter play her first game as a college freshman and took to her Instagram story to post about the game.
"Paris floor action. @izelaarenas Game Day in Paris," Govan wrote in the caption.
In another post, her daughter made her first 3-pointer as a college player.
"@izelaarenas first college bucket," Govan wrote in the caption.
It wasn't only Laura Govan who was putting up stories. Arenas and Govan's youngest son, Aloni Areans, made a post on his IG story lauding Izela's first college points.
Izela played only 10 minutes in her college debut, booking three points, one rebound and one assist. The Louisville Cardinals lost the game 59-66.
Laura Govan talks raising kids and her relationship with Gilbert Arenas
After her breakup with Gilbert Arenas, Laura Govan had largely receded from the public eye. However, in the last few years, with her kids growing up, the reality TV actress opened up about her struggles as a mother and her relationship with her ex-fiancee Gilbert Arenas.
In a conversation with Carlos King on his show on October 29, Govan said that after separating from Arenas, she struggled to give her kids a good life.
"I did everything but pr**titution to keep them kids where they are today," said Govan. (47:47-47:50)
When asked about her relationship with Arenas today, she said that her relationship with Arenas hasn't changed. It is exactly where it was over a decade ago. However, she also commented on Arenas often mentioning her on his podcast
"It's so bad that I had to tell his new fiancee, who I like, to tell him to stop talking about me on his podcast," she added. (39:28-39:42)
Govan and Arenas were together for over a decade before they separated in 2014. They share four children: two sons, Alijah and Aloni Arenas, and daughters Izela and Hamiley Arenas.
