"Gives me extra motivation"- Giannis Antetokounmpo fueled to find success with Greece amid Olympic qualification
Giannis Antetokounmpo has shown his desire to soar to great heights with his national team, Greece. The Greek Freak aspires to compete in the Paris Olympics and win for his nation. Giannis expressed his thoughts on the upcoming international tournament while talking to FIBA.
"Accomplishing something great witth the national team is a great feeling and I want to feel it once in my life," Antetokounmpo said. "So far I haven't felt it and it gives me an extra motivation."
Antetokounmpo has yet to achieve big things with his national team. He had a great run in the 2022 EuroBasket tournament, carrying his team to the quarterfinals. However, Germany eliminated them from the tournament. He averaged 29.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.7 assists in the tournament and was selected for the All-Tournament team.
The Bucks paired Antetokounmpo with Damian Lillard this season; however, injuries derailed their season. The Bucks started to lose more and more and barely made it to the playoffs. To make matters worse, Antetokounmpo picked up an injury right before the playoffs.
He was sidelined for most of the post-season because of a leg injury that had him in a walking boot. The Bucks were demolished in the playoffs without him and he could only watch from the sidelines. Now that he has recovered, he has turned his eyes towards international glory.
