"Going to be seeing and hearing a lot about this": LeBron James impressed by Colorado Buffaloes duo Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter vs North Dakota

NBA superstar LeBron James is known for being a big football fan. Currently, he is enjoying his steady dose of collegiate action.

The newly minted 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalist caught the showdown between the Colorado Buffaloes and North Dakota State on Thursday, coming away impressed with the Buffaloes duo of quarterback Shedeur Sanders and wide receiver Travis Hunter.

LeBron James took to X/Twitter and gave props to the two Colorado stars, highlighting the great things emanating from them in the new season.

"The King" tweeted:

"Shedeur to Hunter for 6! Going to be seeing and hearing that a lot this season I bet!"

Colorado had to dig deep to shake off North Dakota for a 31-26 victory to open their new campaign. Sanders threw for 445 yards with four touchdowns in the win. Hunter, for his part, had seven receptions for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, LeBron James is enjoying some downtime after leading Team USA to a fifth straight gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. It was the third Olympic gold medal the four-time NBA champion won in his career.

In Paris, James posted all-around numbers of 14.2 points, 8.5 assists, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 25 minutes per game en route to being named tournament MVP.

LeBron James could have been great as well in the gridiron, says former high school football teammate

James has built his legacy as an all-time great basketball player, but he also dipped his hands in football when younger and could have established himself in the gridiron had he decided to pursue it further.

This sentiment was shared by his former high school football quarterback-teammate Matt McDonald, who highlighted that James had the build and raw skills to be great in the sport.

McDonald said (via BasketballNetwork.com):

"You look around the field, and it doesn't matter if he's double-covered. It doesn't matter if he's triple-covered. That's were the ball is going.
"He's not the guy that's going to get hurt. It's the guys he's going against. It's at a point where he was so much better than everyone else that not even the big guys could hurt him," he added.

LeBron James played wide receiver back in high school for St. Vincent-St. Mary in Ohio while also starring in the school's men's basketball team, earning a first-team all-star selection in his sophomore year. The following season, he had 57 receptions for 1,160 yards and 16 touchdowns, to help his team reach the semifinals and a 10-4 overall record.

But as fate would have it, it was in basketball that LeBron James found his true calling.
