Golden State Warriors Rumors: Bob Myers unlikely to stay as GM, could affect Stephen Curry's game

The Athletic has reported that Bob Myers is unlikely to continue as the general manager of the Golden State Warriors. Myers had a $27 million option to extend his contract from next season, but the outlet's source said that the 47-year-old might end up leaving.

Stephen has a tight bond with Myers, and his departure will surely be unsettling for Curry. It is yet to be seen if it will have an effect on Curry's game or even switch his team. Curry is under contract with the Golden State Warriors until the 2025-26 NBA season, and fans think that a switch to another team is simply unimaginable.

The Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks are all potential destinations for Myers. However, the most likely option appears to be the LA Clippers.

The team is owned by Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, with a net worth of $83 billion. He has invested heavily in the team since purchasing it in 2014, leading to the most successful period in the franchise’s history.

Bob Myers has a strong connection to the Los Angeles area. He played at UCLA, earned a law degree at Loyola Law School, and was a prominent agent at the LA-based Wasserman Media Group. He then joined the Golden State Warriors as an assistant general manager in 2011.

If Bob Myers were to leave the Warriors, the Wizards, Suns and Knicks are all worth monitoring as possibilities, sources tell @anthonyVslater, @ThompsonScribe and @sam_amick.

In front office circles, meanwhile, the recent focus is on the Clippers.

A source with knowledge of the team's operations has denied the possibility of Myers joining the team.

Stephen Curry's timeline

Turning 35 years old in March, Stephen Curry’s remarkable career does not look like it will slow down anytime soon. Curry is going strong this season. He is averaging 29.2 points, 6.3 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game and has a field-goal rate of 60.8%.

Curry is a candidate to be MVP and is the reason the Warriors have a chance at playoff qualification this season. Golden State Warriors fans will not want to see him play for any other team.

Probably the best shooter of all time, Curry has won four NBA titles and two MVP awards. He will make his ninth All-Star appearance this season, and the front office should do everything it can to discourage a potential switch of teams.
