Sunday’s matchup between the Golden State Warriors and OKC Thunder was an interesting game. Two of the best in the Western Conference dueled, with OKC having a home-court advantage.
Unfortunately for the Thunder, they lost their towering center, Chet Holmgren, early in the game. Holmgren found himself crashing to the hardwood after attempting to stop Andrew Wiggins’ slash inside the paint. With one essential piece removed from the Thunder’s lineup, the Warriors took advantage and came up with a 127-116 victory.
Steph Curry popped off in the third quarter after scoring 17 points in that period alone. His scoring efforts overwhelmed OKC and gave Golden State the momentum they needed to maintain a commanding lead.
Curry finished with 36 points, seven assists, five rebounds, one steal, and one block. The Golden State Warriors and OKC Thunder are now tied in the West, ranking second place both having an 8-2 record.

The first quarter was a highly intense period. The Warriors and Thunder kept trading baskets, not allowing the other an opportunity to gain a huge lead.
Unfortunately for OKC, the intensity of the game led to Chet Holmgren's leg injury. Holmgren found himself crashing on the floor after defending Andrew Wiggins as the Warriors forward went for a strong finish inside the paint.
Wiggins made things happen for the Golden State Warriors in the opening quarter. Wiggins put up nine points, keeping the game within reach for Golden State.
Despite losing their towering center early in the first quarter, the OKC Thunder still secured a first-quarter 33-26 lead.
Come the second quarter, the Golden State Warriors managed to regain the lead with a 65-58 first-half finish. Jonathan Kuminga stepped up and took over for the Warriors as he ended the half with 14 points.
Assisting him on offense was De’Anthony Melton, who had 12 first-half points, and Steph Curry with 11 first-half points. As usual, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took over for the OKC Thunder as he finished the first half with 14 points. Unfortunately, Chet Holmgren was nowhere to be found, giving them a slight disadvantage inside the paint.
In the third quarter, the Warriors proved why they’ve been able to achieve early success in their season after dominating the Thunder 107-79. Curry caught fire with 17 third-quarter points. His relentless assault on offense overwhelmed OKC. Gilgeous-Alexander attempted to keep his team alive, however, Steph’s flurry of baskets was too much.
Ultimately, Golden State came out on top against OKC with a 127-116 finish. Steph Curry made things happen for the Warriors with a huge 36-point outing.
