"Greatest basketball player God has ever created" - Amon-Ra St. Brown's father ranks Victor Wembanyama over Michael Jordan on list of best athletes

After his dominant rookie season, San Antonio Spurs rising star center Victor Wembanyama appears primed to take over the NBA in the coming years. However, according to Detroit Lions star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown's father, John Brown, Wembanyama is already the league's greatest player ever.

On Wednesday's episode of "The St. Brown Podcast," Amon-Ra asked his father to name his four favorite athletes of all time. After he chose himself, Amon-Ra guessed his father's other choices. He picked Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan and boxing legend Muhammad Ali as his most likely selections.

However, his father threw a curveball by proclaiming Wembanyama as the NBA's greatest player ever, over Jordan.

"Wemby," his father said. "Wemby is the greatest basketball player that God has ever created. Period. He's gonna change the whole game. He's already done it. Remember I said that."

After facing pushback, Amon-Ra's father defended his take, citing his instincts for recognizing elite talent.

"You know what the difference is, they can see up the street, but I can see around the corner," his father said. "They can't. They're young. They don't know. They're learning. ... I know what I see. I know what it is. You'll see later. ... He's the greatest ever that God has ever created. You'll see it later."

Wembanyama quickly established himself as one of the NBA's top two-way players as a rookie. Over 71 games, he averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, 3.6 blocks and 1.8 3-pointers per game, shooting 46.5%.

On top of winning Rookie of the Year, the 7-foot-4 big man finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting. He also earned an All-Defensive first-team selection. Given his age (20) and versatility for his size, he seemingly has limitless potential.

However, Wembanyama still has a long way to go to match Jordan's career accolades. Over 15 seasons, Jordan won six championships and five MVPs, making 14 All-Star teams, 11 All-NBA teams and nine All-Defensive teams, among numerous other accolades. Meanwhile, he established himself as arguably the league's greatest scorer ever.

So, if Wembanyama comes anywhere close to replicating Jordan's career accomplishments, Spurs fans would likely be thrilled.

Amon-Ra St. Brown's father says he has only watched 5 of Victor Wembanyama's games

Amon-Ra St. Brown's father may be adamant that Victor Wembanyama is already the NBA's GOAT. However, he reached that conclusion from a relatively small sample size.

After Amon-Ra questioned his father's judgment ranking Wembanyama over Michael Jordan, his brother, Equanimeous St. Brown, asked how many of his games he watched. According to John Brown, he only watched "about five" of Wembanyama's 71 games, around 7.0% of his rookie season.

So, most would probably agree that he is jumping to conclusions a little early.
