"Greatest Shooter Ever": Stephen Curry debuts brand new sneaker at Team USA Camp
In a few weeks, Stephen Curry will be making his debut for Team USA in the Olympics. During training camp, the two-time MVP gave a first look at the latest edition of his signature shoe line.
While getting reps in Las Vegas with the rest of the team, Curry was seen donning a pair of the new "Curry 12." They are set to release in the United States in August, with their global rollout expected to come later in the fall.
At training camp, Stephen Curry wore the Team USA colorway of the sneaker. There is one distinct feature of this shoe. That being the words "greatest shooter ever" written on the tongue.
Over the past decade, the Golden State Warriors guard has cemented himself as one of the best three-point shooters ever. For his career, Curry is at 3,747 made threes and counting. The next closest is Ray Allen at 2,973.
During his career, Curry has led the NBA in made threes on eight different occasions. His best season was in 2016 when he made over 400 threes. Curry also led the NBA in this category last year, knocking down 357 shots from beyond the arc.
Stephen Curry putting impressive undefeated streak on the line with Team USA
While Stephen Curry hasn't played in the Olympics before, it's not his first time suiting up for Team USA. Along with everything he's done in the NBA, the sharpshooting guard has a pair of gold medals on his resumé.
In the past, Curry has only played for Team USA in the World Cup. Along with winning gold in 2010 and 2014, he put together another impressive stat. In international play, Curry has an undefeated record of 18-0.
Now in the Olympics, Stephen Curry is putting his impressive undefeated streak on the line. Luckily for him, he'll be on a stacked team that is capable of winning out in Paris.
Following a disappointing run in the World Cup last summer, Team USA compiled a roster filled with some of the top stars in the NBA. Aside from Curry, other big names include Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum and LeBron James.
Even though the rest of the world has caught up from a talent standpoint, Team USA should still be viewed as the favorite to win gold in the 2024 Olympics. No other group has a collection of NBA talent like the United States.
For Curry, this could be his last opportunity to represent his country on the international stage. He's got a good chance to land another gold medal, but time will tell if he can remain undefeated.
