"Had to take 11 drug tests": Patrick Beverley reveals number of times he was tested following stellar run with Hapoel Tel Aviv
Earlier this offseason, Patrick Beverley made a shocking decision to move to Israel to play in the Israeli Basketball league. On Jul. 16, the former Bucks star signed a two-year, $4 million deal with the Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Beverley made his debut for his new team on Sep. 1, scoring 3 points and providing 6 assists to help his team secure a 92-75 win. On Thursday, the X handle of Beverly's podcast shared a video of the former Bucks star recounting an incident from his Israel endeavor. He revealed that he had to take 11 drug tests after playing a game.
"I've been playing great basketball, we've been playing great basketball. We won 4 in a row, we just beat Jerusalem in Jerusalem, that was a vibe. After the game, I got drug tested and had to take 11 drug tests. 11 drug tests! Y'all heard me 11 drug tests," Beverley said.
The former Bucks player explained that the officials informed him he had too much water in his system, so he had to redo the test. In his defense, Beverley mentioned he had just come off the Yom Kippur fast, which contributed to the excess water in his system.
Later, Beverley said that he had to wait until 4 a.m. after the Jerusalem game and he did not get home until 5:14 a.m. He ended his story by emphasizing that his European endeavor had been fun for him.
Patrick Beverley comes in defense of Bucks coach Doc Rivers comparing him to the legendary Phil Jackson
Former Milwaukee Bucks player Patrick Beverley came in defense of the Bucks' coach Doc Rivers. On October 7, the X account of Pat Bev's podcast uploaded a video of him expressing his opinion on the slander Doc Rivers has been receiving lately.
"They tryna slander Doc," Beverly said. "I don't know I seen some coaching rankings and they had Doc 22 dawg, I almost threw my f****g phone. Phil Jackson is Doc Rivers man, they gotta put more respect on my coach's name."
Patrick Beverley compared Doc Rivers to the 11-time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson affirming that the slander Rivers received was unfair. Later on, the former Bucks player's co-host asked his opinion on Damian Lillard's performance in the upcoming season after the Bucks' star guard asserted that the fans would see the real him.
Pat Bev highlighted that Lillard was "banged up" last season and it was possible that he would outperform himself in the new season.
