Tragil Wade is the older sister to the NBA legend and has been a rock for her younger brother since they were children. Tragic events molded the life of the NBA legend, who grew up without a father. While they have grown older, the connection between the siblings remains strong.

Tragil raised her younger brother, Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade and his older sister, Tragil Wade, navigated early childhood without a father. Things got worse for the siblings with their mother’s addiction to drugs. In those tough times, it was D Wade’s sister who took it upon herself to raise her younger brother.

Before being awarded by IMPACT Magazine 2022 for her work toward educating children, Tragil spoke about how she navigated life for herself and her brother, who depended on her.

"As kids, our mother was incarcerated and dealt with drug abuse. Due to her decisions, I had to grow up fast. Dwyane became my focus, and I thank God for giving me the strength and grace a big sister needs to help him become the man he is," she told IMPACT Magazine in 2022.

Tragil works as an educator and has a degree in early childhood education from San Diego University. She also has a degree in elementary education. Apart from working as an educator, Tragil also serves as the executive director of Dwyane Wade’s “Wade’s World Foundation,” which was founded in 2003.

Tragil married Edward Johnson on Mar. 20, 2020. Johnson served in the US Navy for two decades. She is also a mother to daughter Areyonna and son Prince. Both Areyonna and Prince are from Johnson’s previous relationship.
