Hawks fans erupt in "Bron will trade you" chants for Lakers' $32M wingÂ
The LA Lakers took on the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena on Friday night. It was a wild night in Atlanta as Hawks fans in attendance went berserk on the Purple and Gold squad. Throughout the game, fans could be heard making weird noises to try to distract the LA players from making their free throw attempts.
As part of Atlanta's distraction, the stadium erupted with a chant directed toward Max Christie. It's been three seasons since Christie has played with LA. Despite only being a role player, the Lakers organization loved his style of play enough to offer him a four-year, $32 million contract. While that's a good indication of him sticking around, Hawks fans tried to remind Christie of LeBron James' ways.
James has a reputation among fans for playing a part in trading players when things don't go according to plan. This is why he earned the nickname "LeGM". Friday night's game proved that LeBron's moniker is still alive and well as Hawks fans chanted:
"Bron will trade you!"
Lakers vs Hawks Halftime Report: LeBron James and Anthony Davis try to keep LA alive
Heading into Friday night's matchup, the Lakers were on a two-game losing streak. LeBron James and Anthony Davis haven't performed the way they're expected to while the rest of the team also struggled to find their rhythm. As a result, the Purple and Gold dropped down to ninth place in the Western Conference with a 12-10 record.
However, it appeared that James and Davis finally got things going again for themselves. In the first half, the star duo took over and looked more like themselves. James put up 17 points, seven assists, three rebounds, two steals and one block. As for "AD", he added 22 points, four rebounds, three assists and one block.
Though the rest of the LA crew couldn't hit double figures, it wasn't much of a problem given how they could rely on their two superstars yet again. Despite James and Davis popping off, it was clear that the Lakers still needed more firepower. The visitors finished the half with the game tied at 64-64.
Given the circumstances, anything can still happen in State Farm Arena. Laker Nation will hope James and Davis can continue carrying the team and come away with a win on the road.
