"He called them out" - Insider reveals Steve Kerr going ballistic on Team USA in film session

Team USA played five exhibition games before the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics and went undefeated. However, they showed signs of struggle during their last two games, which were against South Sudan (July 20) and Germany (July 22). The Americans barely won 101-100 against South Sudan. In their win against the Germans, they held a 92 - 88 lead in the final buzzer.

While the team is still expected to do great in the actual games for the Olympics, the fact that they struggled in the final two games bothered many and the fans were surprised to see the team rely solely on LeBron James. According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the team was called out by coach Steve Kerr during film sessions and practices after they wrapped their tune-up games.

"After the week in Abu Dhabi where they really played well against Australia and Serbia, Team USA was wow," Windhorst said. "That is the team we thought they could be. This last week in London, it was like, 'Huh.' They need to get back to the wow.
"That was what Steph Curry was talking about there and also what Steve Kerr was trying to do. My biggest thing with them right now, how will they respond to their coach challenging them? Because over the last couple of days since the team arrived here in France, he has really called them out in speaking to the media and from what I understand, in their film sessions and practices."

Windhorst relayed that Kerr thought the team didn't play with enough energy during their final two exhibition games.

Steve Kerr shared his thoughts on Team USA's performance against Germany

Team USA lacked energy and assertiveness in their games against South Sudan and Germany. After they ended their exhibition games, Steve Kerr had the players watch a tape of their performance against Dennis Schroder and the Germans.

Joe Vardon of The Athletic had a chance to talk to Kerr regarding their performance against Germany. The Golden State Warriors leader didn't hesitate to tell what was wrong with the team.

"I hated our pace the other day against Germany — we were just walking the ball up the floor. The tape was tough to watch," Kerr said.

The fans are expecting a better performance from the team against Serbia on Sunday.
