"He doesn't give a f**k" - LeBron James gets candid on Bronny James' scrutiny

LeBron James opened up about his son Bronny James being under scrutiny for being drafted by the LA Lakers. James knows all about being under the microscope all the time since he went through it his entire career, starting in Cleveland then in Miami and finally in Los Angeles.

In an interview with ESPN on Sunday, James was asked about the noise surrounding Bronny. From being drafted by the Lakers to being given a four-year guaranteed contract, a lot of people are saying negative things about the 19-year-old guard.

"I don't know if people really understand Bronny. He doesn't care. I actually care a little bit. When I came in, I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career. ... He doesn't give a f**k," LeBron said.

"The King" added:

"He does not care about nobody. He doesn't even listen to that stuff. He's like the coolest. He's like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something. Bro does not care. ... Everything that's being said about him, he really does not care."

LeBron James went through it all during his career and passed all the expectations he was given with flying colors. For Bronny James, it's a little different because he has the privilege that not a lot of incoming players have.

Nevertheless, the USC product put in the hard work from recovering from his cardiac arrest to preparing for the draft. LA Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka loved what he saw from Bronny during the NBA Combine enough to take him 55th overall.

LeBron James is back representing the United States after missing the 2016 and 2020 Olympics. Team USA failed to capture the 2023 FIBA World Cup, prompting James to unretire from international basketball and recruit other NBA superstars to join him.

James is looking to win his third Olympic gold medal and four Olympic medals overall. He initially won a bronze medal in 2004 before helping the Redeem Team win the gold medal four years later.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the four-time NBA champion was excited to play with some of the best players in the world. He was glad to be back playing for Team USA in hopes of bringing a gold medal in Paris, France.

"I'm still playing a high level. I still love the game of basketball. And Team USA has done well by me, so I felt like it was important for this summer to be able to go out there and play with the rest of the guys," James said. [H/T The Washington Post]
