"He's an alcoholic"- Trinity Rodman doesn't mince word about father Dennis Rodman's current state
Dennis Rodman has been known for his outlandish lifestyle outside of his hall of fame resume, which includes five NBA championships. However, his family and daughters, including women’s soccer star Trinity Rodman, who was vocal about his relationship with her father, are often neglected when talking about his legacy.
Trinity spoke about her father’s current state and how hard it was for her to live the former NBA star as a father in a recent interview with "Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper, where the soccer star did not mince words about Dennis.
“He’s an alcoholic,” Trinity Rodman said in the interview, adding, “He's not a dad. Maybe by blood, but nothing else. We tried to live with him But he's having parties 24/7, bringing random b****es in.”
Trinity looked bad at how her family dealt with the older Rodman and how her resentment built up inside her until she turned professional.
”He loves the spotlight. We never want to make him look bad. And that is at the cost of kind of holding in a lot. I guess it's just like the anger that I haven't really been able to let out is, like, difficult for me,” she said.
Despite her father’s wrongdoings, Trinity excelled in her sport, leading the US national soccer team to the gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also won the 2021 National Women’s Soccer League (NSWL) championship with the Washington Spirit.
Trinity Rodman looks back at the time Dennis Rodman pulled up unexpectedly in one of her games
In the same interview, Trinity looked back at when her father showed up in one of her playoff games as a rookie with the Spirit. She revealed how she felt about Dennis’ appearance and how it affected her during the game.
"He showed up to my game, I was like so mad. … My mom had no idea until he was like, there. And I think she got a call or something. But they were in a suite, field side. And again, going in my rookie year, going into a quarterfinal, I'm already s***ing my pants as it is,” she said.
“I'm stressed, like, 'Oh my gosh, we have to win.' We go, I'm playing… and I hear it. And his voice to me is like so I hear him go: 'Let's go Rodman, let's go Trinity.' And I'm like, 'oh my f***ing gosh.' Like, there's no way this is happening right now. The whistle blew and I was so mad. I was like: 'You took this happy moment from me. You f***ed with my head again.' And he did it so many times. I think he knows what he does,” Trinity added.
In the same game in 2021, the father and daughter were seen hugging each other, with the latter even posting about it on her Instagram account.
Dennis rose to fame when he played with the Detroit Pistons in the 1980s and with the Chicago Bulls dynasty in the 1990s.
