Shaquille O'Neal goes off on Kanye West amid public spat: He’s a narcissist and I was like that so I can call him that
Shaquille O'Neal recently had a public spat with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. Shaq dissed the rapper for his tweet about the Hall of Famer’s business partnership with billionaire Jamie Salter.
On an episode of “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” the four-time NBA champ doubled down on his comments about the Grammy winner:
(Starts at the 29:45 mark)
“I’m not going all that back-and-forth. I say something, he say something then he continued to say something then I heard the word 'narcissist.' I looked it up and I was like, ‘Oh s**t, that was me.’ This is why things are going crazy for him cause look how he acts. I used to act like that.
“I can call him that 'cause that was once me, but I’m out of there. … I’m humbled now. You can’t be arrogant. When you’re arrogant, you lose everything. Then, when you lose everything, you wanna blame it on people.
“You wanna blame it on Jay-Z, the person that helped you get there? You wanna blame it on Beyonce, who never messes with anybody? You wanna blame it on me? I don’t even know you like that, homie!”
Ye has been taking shots at businessmen over the past few weeks and eventually landed on Shaquille O'Neal. The rapper questioned Shaq’s supposed 50/50 business split with Jamie Salter. The LA Lakers legend promptly told him to get his business in order rather than meddle in the affairs of others.
The Yeezy brand founder and designer has been in hot water after repeatedly making anti-Semitic comments. He previously proudly declared Adidas would do nothing to him despite his blatant disrespect of the Jewish people.
Adidas dropped him despite knowing they would lose millions in the process. GAP, Balenciaga, JP Morgan Chase, Foot Locker, Madame Tussauds London and many others have also cut ties with the eccentric rapper.
Shaquille O'Neal, like many across the world, knew Ye had been dropped from the ranks of billionaires. Shaq's comments about the rapper’s crumbling business empire hit home hard.
Ye also took a shot at Jay-Z, Beyonce, LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal for allowing themselves to be "controlled" by the movers behind the scenes.
Shaquille O'Neal will not listen to Kanye West because he’s got more money than the rapper
Before several business entities cut ties with Ye, he was reportedly worth $1.3 billion. In an interview with Piers Morgan, he insulted the British host during an exchange where the hip-hop artist asked about Morgan’s net worth.
Knowing Morgan was not monetarily on his level, Ye pointedly told him that he wasn’t going to listen to any advice from the journalist.
Shaquille O'Neal served him a poetic dose of justice with the remarks he made to the embattled artist. Ye refused to add anything after Shaq drubbed him with this:
“To quote the once great Kanye West 'I got more money than you, so why would i listen to you'?”
Ye attacked Shaquille O'Neal after the LA Lakers icon called the suspended Kyrie Irving an “idiot” for posting a link with anti-Semitic tropes. While the rapper praised the Brooklyn Nets point guard, he couldn’t resist dragging O’Neal down.
