"He staged that for views" - Dwight Howard seemingly takes a shot at Shannon Sharpe's IG Live fiasco
Former NBA star Dwight Howard seemingly took a shot at Shannon Sharpe after his viral Instagram Live. Sharpe, who hosts "Nightcap" with co-host Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson, went viral on Wednesday after going live on Instagram and seemingly being intimate with a woman named Michelle.
The NFL legend first claimed that his account was hacked before admitting that it was real and he was not sure how the Instagram Live turned on.
Howard, who has not been in the NBA since 2022, was one of many personalities who reacted to the viral incident. He was not buying Sharpe's excuse and thought that the video was done on purpose for the "views."
"He staged that for views," Howard tweeted.
Dwight Howard is not afraid to speak his mind about the matter, given all the controversies surrounding him over the years. Nevertheless, Shannon Sharpe has cleared the air after the video went viral, claiming that he doesn't know how it happened since he's not familiar with Instagram Live.
"I am embarrassed," Sharpe said. "Someone that is extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details, the audio heard for the entire world? I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons. There are a lot of people that count on Shannon to be professional at all times, and I always try to be professional at all times, even when I'm behind closed doors."
The 56-year-old added:
"I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act but to have your most intimate detail heard. I think there are millions and billions of people of consenting age that engage in activities, but for the audio to be heard, I'm disappointed in myself. I let a lot of people down."
Dwight Howard back in the United States but not in the NBA
After spending the past two years around the world playing basketball, Dwight Howard is back in the United States. However, Howard won't be suiting up for an NBA team. He will be on the dance floor instead after being announced as part of the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars."
Howard will look to become the second NBA star to win the competition. Iman Shumpert made history in Season 30 when he took home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy in 2021.
The one-time NBA champion will be the ninth basketball player to compete in "Dancing with the Stars." He joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Derek Fisher, Lamar Odom, Clyde Drexler, Rick Fox, Metta World Peace, Charles Oakley, and of course, Shumpert.
