"He talks a lot" - Jayson Tatum dishes it back to Anthony Edwards after win, boasts record vs Timberwolves
Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics got the last laugh against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday at the TD Garden. Tatum clapped back at Edwards after the game for his comments on Netflix's Starting 5 docuseries.
In his postgame interview, Tatum was asked about what "Ant Man" said in the documentary regarding the Celtics star's status among the best in the league. He laughed it off and explained that Edwards just loves to talk trash. He's got nothing but praise for him and likes giving it back on the court.
"I love Ant," Tatum said, according to Yahoo! Sports. "Hell of a player, hell of a competitor. He talks a lot and he had a lot to say this summer about the games we played against them last year and getting excited to play against us this year. So you enjoy playing against the other best players in the league. It's always fun and competitive."
Tatum added that he's not taking any of Edwards' trash talk personally since they've done it before in Paris as teammates. He also boasted about his impressive career 12-1 record against Minnesota, saying:
"We was talking a lot of sh*t to each other during the summer. I got a pretty good record against Minnesota in my career. That was the one time he beat us so far."
Jayson Tatum finished Sunday's 107-105 win with 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jaylen Brown had a game high 29 points and four rebounds.
Anthony Edwards, on the other hand, put up 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Julius Randle added 23 points and six rebounds, while rookie Rob Dillingham scored 14 points off the bench.
The Boston Celtics improved to 14-3 for the season, which is still the second-best record in the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves dropped to 8-8 and are now in 11th place in the Western Conference standings.
What did Anthony Edwards say about Jayson Tatum?
The Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves split their regular-season series last season, where both games went to overtime. The Timberwolves got the win at home, and it was part of Netflix's Starting 5 docuseries.
The show had Anthony Edwards talking trash about Jayson Tatum after the game. Edwards was unimpressed with Tatum being called one of the best players in the league.
"You seen Tatum trying to get me on the switch, locked his ass up two times," Edwards said, according to Yahoo! Sports. "He started talking sh*t. Tatum was talking crazy, saying, 'Yeah, I'm here,' then I said, 'I'm coming again.' Talking 'bout best player in the league, y'all trippin'."
Tatum and Edwards won a gold medal together in Paris at the 2024 Olympics. They are also set to clash again on Jan. 2 in Minnesota.
