"His time with the Mavs is done" "Transition from 'owner' to 'cheerleader-in-chief'" - Mavericks fans react as Mark Cuban loses control of operations
Fans on social media reacted to reports about Mark Cuban not having control of basketball operations for the Dallas Mavericks. According to ESPN, Cuban no longer has control over decisions regarding the team's transactions. This came following his decision to sell his majority stake in the team to the Adelson and Dumont families.
The report regarding Cuban's influence on the team also came after the Mavs lost in the NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics. On Monday, they tried to extend the series to six games, but the presence of the Celtics' home crowd didn't help their cause.
Cuban still has minority ownership over the Mavs. However, his involvement with the team's transactions wouldn't be the same. The team's longtime owner will still be recognized as someone associated with the organization, but he won't have the final say in certain roster changes made by the team's general manager, Nico Harrison.
After the news, fans quickly shared their thoughts on the matter. Here are some fan reactions on Cuban and the Mavs.
"Cuban's transition from 'owner' to 'cheerleader-in-chief' has begun," one fan said.
"I mean the guy thought Steve Nash couldn’t play anymore. Should have left then," another fan said.
"Cuban SUCKED as an owner & wasted Dirks career!" a fan shared.
A few fans were sentimental about Cuban not having control anymore.
"Yeah his time with the mavs is done. he will always be a MFFL," one fan said.
"He had a great run, now he can enjoy being a fan with the rest of us," another fan said.
"Love you cubes, what a run," a fan said.

What's next for the Mavericks?
The Mavericks reached the NBA Finals after missing the entire postseason in 2023. The expectations were high as they had traded for Kyrie Irving to give Luka Doncic some support. They also made trades in the middle of the season, acquiring Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington.
But it looks like they still need more to win the title. They have a bright future ahead of them and seem to have the right people to win the title. Bleacher Report's Zack Buckley has already named three players the Mavs should consider trading for this summer.
One of the targets that Buckley mentioned was Matisse Thybulle. The American-Australian wingman is known for his intelligent defense and acquiring him could strengthen the team's perimeter defense. The Mavs could also get rid of a few players to give them better role players next season.
