"Hope you enjoyed my hometown" - LeBron James shouts out Peyton Manning for NFL legend's Ambassador of Golf honor in Akron
On Saturday, LeBron James paid tribute to Peyton Manning after the two-time Super Bowl champion's latest achievement. The Kaulig Companies Championship, PGA Tour Champions and Northern Ohio Golf Charities Foundation honored Manning with the 2024 Ambassador of Golf Award in Akron, Ohio this week.
While James was not able to be there in person to support Manning, this was extra special for the NBA star considering the event took place in his hometown of Akron. James, who is currently training for the Olympic Games in Paris, France, made it a point to shout out Manning in an Instagram story with the caption:
"Hope you enjoyed my hometown and House Three Thirty."
The House Three Thirty is a dining, retail, arts and entertainment space that has been designed and put up by the James family. It is also where Peyton Manning received the Ambassador of Golf Award on Thursday night.
Manning achieved a great deal of success in his career as an NFL star, and then as a member of the sports media world. This is another prestigious accolade to add to his already impressive resume. Previous Ambassadors of the award include former US Presidents Gerald Ford, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush.
LeBron James' off-court impact in the city of Akron is prominent
LeBron James is a four-time MVP and a four-time NBA champion. On the court, his most noteworthy accomplishment came last year when at the age of 38, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league's all-time leading scorer.
The LA Lakers superstar is renowned around the globe and regarded by many to be the greatest basketball player that ever lived. It is important to note, however, that James has also done a great deal for the community, and particularly his hometown in Akron, Ohio.
The House Three Thirty, where the dinner was held for Peyton Manning's award ceremony, was a project by the LeBron James Family Foundation. James invested his time and money and it took two years of work to transform the venue into the community center it is today.
James is also responsible for the I Promise School in Akron, a public school funded by his foundation.
