Kyrie Irving had a good start, but Luka Doncic had struggled with his shooting early on. Klay Thompson was held scoreless to start the game.

The Mavericks slowed down Houston's offense in the second quarter, but their offense was inefficient. Doncic had 12 first-half points but shot 5-for-13, including 0-for-3 from deep. Dallas trailed 57-44 by halftime.

The defensive battle that started in the second quarter continued in the third period. Luka Doncic regained his shooting touch but the Rockets kept the driver's seat. Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun pushed the visitors to an 88-72 lead after the end of the third frame.

Behind Doncic and Irving, the Mavericks won the fourth quarter 30-20. They had a handful of runs that steadily cut Houston's lead. The Rockets, however, did enough to walk away with a 108-102 victory.
