"How could you even stage that?" - Former NBA guard Terrence Ross reacts to Donald Trump assassination attempt

Former NBA guard Terrence Ross is one of several athletes who reacted to the assassination attempt on former United States president Donald Trump. Ross questioned some people who are saying that the shooting was staged to make Trump look sympathetic ahead of the election.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ross posted a question that divided people online:

"How could you even stage that?"

The former NBA Slam Dunk champion was looking for answers, but some people tried to tell him that it was easy to do. Terrance Ross was still confused, as the same people who had told him that it was easy to fake an assassination attempt couldn't tell him the step-by-step procedure.

It should also be pointed out that at least one person died from a bullet coming from the alleged sniper. There are reportedly two more people in critical condition and are currently hospitalized in Pittsburgh, as per CBS News.

Ross then voiced his opinion on the matter, calling out the people who divide the American society. He pointed out that the people have more in common with each other rather than the people in charge.

"What's happening to our country? Our government and politicians divide us, then act shock when things go to far. It shouldn’t be red vs blue. It should us vs them. We have more in common than any of these politicians who are suppose to be our voice. Enough," Ross wrote.

Terrence Ross retired from basketball following the 2022-23 NBA season. He began his career as the eighth overall pick of the 2012 NBA draft. He spent the first four and a half years of his career with the Toronto Raptors, winning the Slam Dunk contest in 2013.

Ross played most of his career with the Orlando Magic, where he was the team's sixth man. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns at the deadline in 2023, playing the final 21 games of his career there.

Despite their rivalry ahead of the 2024 presidential elections, incumbent POTUS Joe Biden condemned the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Biden released the following statement after the FBI confirmed that there was an attempt on Trump's life on Saturday.

"Look, there's no place in America for this kind of violence. It's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this," Biden said in a televised statement. [H/T Newsweek]

Joe Biden also released a written statement saying that he and his family are praying for all the people at the rally. The POTUS also thanked the Secret Service for ensuring the safety of Donald Trump.
