How many points did Anthony Davis score tonight against Memphis Grizzlies? (April 19)
Anthony Davis' mammoth night was not enough to halt the Memphis Grizzlies' charge. The Mavs went down 120-106 on Friday at the FedEx Forum despite the big's 40-point blitz.
It was a solid start for Davis as he went into halftime with 22 points, five rebounds, and one assist. He shot 9-15 from the field and 1-3 from the 3-point line. While he led the scoring for the Mavericks, the side's erratic play on both ends of the floor forced them to play catch-up for most of the contest.
In the third quarter, the Mavs superstar did everything to end with nine rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. The final few minutes saw him get injured as he was seen holding his right leg, grimacing in pain. Without his presence on the floor, the Grizzlies, who were off to a solid start, managed to hang on and pull away with a series of impressive plays.
Anthony Davis off to a promising start for the Mavs despite injury setback
Since the shock trade that sent Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers for Anthony Davis, the latter has looked comfortable under Jason Kidd's style of coaching. His numbers continue to be prolific, if not for the injury concerns. Davis missed a good chunk of games this season for Dallas, but has proved to be a force when healthy.
Davis ends his maiden season with the Mavs averaging 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 0.6 steals, and 2.2 blocks per contest. He ended his overall season averaging 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. He was traded for his defensive skillset and the Mavs will believe that a healthy version of Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson can make the team bonafide title contenders.
