"I adore you" - Dennis Schroder's wife Ellen Schroder shares heartfelt birthday tribute to her 'most handsome man'
With Dennis Schroder of the Brooklyn Nets turning 31 on Sunday, his wife Ellen posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. The Schroders have been together since 2017 and have been married for more than five years. The couple has three children together.
In a post on Instagram stories, Ellen greeted her husband on his birthday. She shared a collage of images of the entire family as she wrote a heartwarming message for the 2023 FIBA World Cup MVP.
"Happy Birthday to the love of my life. My most handsome men, I wish you nothing but the Best. I adore your for always giving your best, never giving up, for taking care of everyone and everything for being you. Ain't no one like you," Ellen wrote.
Dennis Schroder was born in Braunschweig, Germany on Sept. 15, 1993, to a German father and a Gambian mother. He grew up as a skateborder before focusing on basketball. He turned professional when he was 16, joining Phantoms Braunschweig of the Basketball Bundesliga.
Schroder declared for the NBA draft in 2013 and was selected 17th by the Atlanta Hawks. He spent the first five years of his career with the Hawks before getting traded to the OKC Thunder ahead of the 2018-19 season. He was in Oklahoma City for two years as one of the best sixth men in the league.
The LA Lakers acquired him before the 2020-21 season, but he was out of there after just one season. He has played for multiple teams in the past three years, like the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, the Lakers again, Toronto Raptors and now the Brooklyn Nets.
The 31-year-old guard might have become a journeyman in the NBA, but he's a star for Germany on the international stage.
He helped Germany win its first FIBA World Cup championship last year and was the MVP of the tournament. He guided Germany to a fourth-place finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics and was a part of the FIBA Olympics All-Star Five team.
Dennis Schroder will be the third-oldest player for Brooklyn next season
The Brooklyn Nets have entered a full rebuild after trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks this offseason. He was the prized asset the Nets got from the Phoenix Suns in the Kevin Durant deal, but the franchise decided to start from scratch.
Dennis Schroder will likely be their point guard during the rebuild season and will be the third-oldest player on the roster. Only Bojan Bogdanovic and Dorian Finney-Smith are older than Schroder.
The Nets have the potential to be one of the worst teams in the NBA but have a pretty solid veteran lineup that could compete every night.
They should be pretty active at the trade deadline, fetching calls for players like Schroder, Bogdanovic and Finney-Smith, who could be key pieces for title contenders.
